National Junior Honor Society
Per our bylaws, service hours are defined as instances of work or assistance provided without payment or benefit.
Activities that do NOT qualify for service hours include:

Services to immediate family, such as babysitting or doing chores

Anything you are paid to do

Any activity required for a class (including Leadership, unless outside of school hours)

Any activity that is part of a church service (singing in a choir, altar service, etc)
Activities that do qualify for service hours may include:
On Campus Activities

Participation in the recycling team
-
Participation in school-sponsored service events including food drives, Fall Festival, VIP Week, clothing or toy drives

Assisting a teacher or tutoring students after school
-
Sign-making or activity planning during Advisory or after school
-
Off-Campus Activities
-
-
Help at another school
-
Participate in community events, such as Relay for Life, etc.

Volunteer at the public library, senior center, or food closet
-
Volunteer at a church (not as part of a church service)

Document service hours using this form, and submit them within two weeks of service completion. Check the table below to see how many hours you have submitted.
Monthly service hours are due by the 5th of the following month.

Sign Up for Volunteer Times
Volunteering after school means you can ride the bus home.
If you volunteer any other time/place, please be sure to get your parents approval. Some locations require a volunteer form which may take some time to get approval, so plan early!
General Service Ideas
- Tutor a younger student: See Mrs. Michel or Mrs. Jahreis in E pod.
- Offer free pet sitting or dog walking
- Volunteer at a Carson Valley Food Closet
- Volunteer at Animal Shelter
- Make signs for home sports games and lead fun chants
April- May Service Ideas
- Volunteer at the senior center
- Help clean up the yard of a neighbor who needs help
- Walk a pet for someone who can't do it themself
- Volunteer at the PWL Track Meet (May 4). See Mr. Olguin if interested.
- Free babysitting on weekends
